Shadow and Bone (#grishaverse) is a fantasy book that one would find hard to put down. Here the protagonist Alina is not a strong character like any other protagonist in other books. She was an orphan and her childhood best friend was Mal who was also an orphan. This fantasy story is about Grisha,a human who practices the ‘small science’ (the art of manipulating things). The story took place in “Ravka” where there was a place called “Shadow Fold”. And it was filled with ‘Volcra’,a monster that feast on human flesh. As per Alina, the Darkling, who was the most powerful Grisha need her to destroy the Shadow fold for the goodness of Ravka. Alina-Sun Summoner-left with no other option than to help the Darkling who has his own secrets. Did she destroy the Shadow fold? Well, I won’t say that, read the story to know what had happened. I bet you will not regret reading it.
This is my first fantasy read,yes I had only seen Harry Potter movies,but haven’t read any one of the book in this series. In this story the author had created a new world and made us live in it. The character building and descriptions are mesmerising. The powers mentioned in the story was bit confusing at first,but one could understand it clearly after few chapters.I felt that the powers were not clearly explained so I googled it to get a clear view. But you don’t want to bother much about that because you will definitely fall in love with the characters in this book. Mal is my favourite his comic sense, his dialogues are remarkable. Alina is no less than him she is the humour queen or I could say the author was. And then here comes the Darkling who will get all your love and then make you regret it for doing so. So definitely this book is a must-read & a page-turner.
