My Review:

I didn’t expect to enjoy this book. I just managed to tolerate it after getting through the first half. Finally, there was some development in Juliette’s character, which is the only good thing in this book.

Juliette becomes stronger in this book which is really good. Even though it was not so smooth and gradual, I welcomed it. She didn’t feel like entirely a different person. Even though I still hate her, this is better than seeing her crying for a whole book.

While reading this book, I thought the second book was pointless. Juliette kept on saying that Warner was a psycho, he was a monster and that she hated him so much. While in the second book, she was all over him. I am like, What?? Did she get amnesia in the second book? Did she forget in the second book that Warner tortured her, and now she remembered everything?? Her love life is the worst I have ever read in my reading journey.

I understand that the author and the rest of the world want Warner and Juliette to be together. So everything Warner did has a valid reason, and he was not bad. He just portrayed himself like that. I accept that because it’s logical and makes sense. But why did Adam have to be mean and awful? That’s so unlike him.

I think the author thought that if she makes Adam awful, we don’t blame Juliette for choosing Warner over Adam. I seriously don’t care who Juliette ends up with. In between this drama, Juliette was preparing for war. The main plot is Juliette’s love life. The side plot is fighting for freedom for her place. That’s how the story was portrayed.

Kenji, my sweetheart, spoke my mind. He just knew what to do and say all the time. Him trying to insert some sense into Juliette’s mind was my favourite part. Except for Kenji, no importance was given to any other side characters.

The climax was satisfying. One good thing about this book is that it was fast-paced. I wouldn’t say I love this book. At the same time, I didn’t hate it either.

My rating: ⭐⭐⭐
